WordPress Plugin’s Oopsie: Hackers Could Sneak Into Your Site!
Hey there, WordPress users! Attention please, there are some exciting things to report about how to protect your website.
The LiteSpeed Cache plugin which has become so popular lately? Well, it actually had a little glitch on the security side. If it is any consolation, the good guys got their hands on it before the bad guys could get their hold on it.
So, what’s the deal? In previous versions of the plugin, there was a cheeky little bug. One of the features that could be enabled if you wanted (it is called debugging) is the one that allows strangers to take a sneak peek into your site. Yikes!
Here’s the scary part: Although there is this open door for someone to log in as you or any other user of your site they could easily pretend to be you. It is similar to leaving the door of your house wide open and providing the keys to the unknown person passing by.
But don’t panic! Fortunately, the LiteSpeed team has corrected this problem ahead of time. Fortunately, they have released a new version of the plugin which eliminated this hidden loophole.
Here’s what you need to do:
- You have to update your LiteSpeed Cache plugin as soon as possible.
- You should also look for any files, which are called “debug. log”, in your WordPress folders. If you do, it is better to remove it, true to the saying that, ‘the pen is mightier than the sword’.
- As for the second point, be careful with debugging features if you implement it make sure it is safe to use. If you are not sure you ask any of your friends who is a computer literate person.
Do not forget the fact that the protection of your WordPress based site is like the securing of your home – it is always good to be safe than sorry!
Well then, spend five minutes giving your site a once-over to update its content with CA’s latest information, then continue blogging with confidence. Be careful out there in the digital world, everybody!
